Facebook Malware Checkpoint

2012.07.15

Facebook announced the Malware Checkpoint – service for detecting malicious activity on user’s computers. Technical solutions provided  by Microsoft Security Essentials http://on.fb.me/infectedMSE  and McAfee’s Scan and Repair http://on.fb.me/infectedMcA .

Here is some overview of the process

Technically, it looks like this:

Facebook detect malicious activity on Your account, or You detect it by Yourself.

Your account is temporary locked:

So, this page lead You to next page, where You start “worry”, even if Facebook say You shouldn’t.

Well, now we getting close to the point.

Depend on what link You choose in the beginning of the way, You transferred to download page:

Note: You need genuine MS Windows to run Microsoft SE, so in case it have some problems – choose McAfee.

Well, then You proposed to download EXE file, and run it.

As a result, You need to answer the last quiz of Facebook Protection:

Let’s say, it is. You press continue and Your account is restored.

So, this is how it works.

Anyway, It better than nothing.

I think, it’s better to use Microsoft Safety Scanner than Microsoft Security Essentials.
